When I mention that I work in an emergency room, people usually say,
1 Are you a nurse?
2 Wow. That must be really hard.
3 How is it?
This is how it is.
teenager into two liters of vodka & puke his stomach at triage? Yup. Blood from a terrified pregnant woman? Call me. And, of course, the patients who no longer has nose bleeding, screaming at me in the department: “You are the insensitive doctor I have ever met!” Fun fun fun.
Let me peel back the curtain for you. It is never an iron curtain. In new countries, there is probably a lousy fabric curtain that too many other people have sneezed at. Come on in.
